ICA Given Free Sponsorship on TV Show

The International Chiari Association (ICA), which is an all-volunteer nonprofit organization, is now a sponsor of a Santa Barbara, California-based television show. 

The TV talk show is called "SB Native Pete Dal Bello." Also the founder and president of the ICA, Dal Bello co-hosts the show with Jatzibe Sandoval. Each episode can be seen on Mondays (9 p.m.) and Fridays (10:30 a.m.) on Channel 17 in Santa Barbara.

Dal Bello was born with Chiari and had successful decompression surgery in 2009. He founded the ICA two years later.

For the Love of the Game

David Waybright is a senior at Independence High School in Bakersfield, California. Waybright is on the baseball team and he is not letting Chiari keep him from living life.

Despite having been in the hospital at least once a month, every month, for his entire life, Waybright will graduate on time with a 3.7 GPA. He plans to go to Bakersfield College with the goal of transferring to Fresno State to become a history teacher.

When Courage the Bear Visited City Hall

ICA Founder/President Pete Dal Bello frequently speaks at City Hall in Santa Barbara, California. 

While Dal Bello usually speaks about City-related issues, ICA Mascot Courage the Bear upstaged him at City Hall on Sept. 11, 2012. Dal Bello was talking to the mayor and city council about the Chiari Awareness Celebration, which would take place on Sept. 16.

Happy Birthday to the ICA!!!

SANTA BARBARA, Calif. - The International Chiari Association (ICA) is celebrating its seventh birthday today.

"We want to thank everyone for their support," said ICA Founder/President Pete Dal Bello. "We really appreciate it."

The all-volunteer nonprofit organization was founded by Dal Bello on April 8, 2011, with the assistance of Robert Mislang and Jason Floyd. Since the birthday landed on a Sunday, the ICA is celebrating today.

ICA Mascot Courage the Bear picked up the balloons. Unfortunately, he can't count so more than seven balloons were purchased.
