Retired Chiari Surgeon Taking Big Step Toward a Presidential Campaign

Dr. Ben Carson, a retired pediatric neurosurgeon who performed decompression surgeries on children, has had people wanting him to run for president of the United States since last year. 

Now Carson has taken a major step towards a presidential campaign. ABC News is reporting that Carson, who is very popular among conservatives, "will air a nearly 40-minute long ad introducing himself to the American people this weekend in his opening bid for the Republican nomination."

Chiari Surgeon Concedes in Race for U.S. Senate

Dr. Monica Wehby will now have more time for her medical office. 

The Portland-based pediatric neurosurgeon, who treats Chiari patients and children with other neurological problems, lost the Oregon Senate race to incumbent Democratic Sen. Jeff Merkley on Tuesday. Merkley cruised to a 55%-38% victory over Wehby, a first-time candidate. 

Wehby won the Republican primary on May 20.

Her campaign has struggled since June when it was damaged by revelations surrounding her personal life.
