The International Chiari Association (ICA) is pleased to announce that the Chiari Awareness Tour will take place from Sept. 8-15.

During that time, ICA Founder/President Pete Dal Bello will visit six states in eight days and do the following: represent the ICA, spread Chiari Awareness and meet those with Chiari and the people that care about them. 

"I am very excited about this opportunity," Dal Bello said. "This is a first in the Chiari World. The ICA always puts people first and I am thankful for the assistance of a private donor to help make this trip possible."

The International Chiari Association (ICA) is pleased to announce that ICA Secretary Jason Floyd has donated items for three lots in the silent auction at the 3rd Annual Chiari Awareness Celebration. 

The items (see pictures of them by CLICKING HERE) are the following: a hand-painted Island Sunset theme baseball cap and two women's tie-dyed T-shirts (sizes medium and large) with purple being the dominant color. The artwork on all three items was done by Floyd.

On July 14, 2014, the International Chiari Association (ICA) announced the creation of International Chiari Day, which will take place on Sept. 4. Dr. Hans Chiari, who Chiari is named after, was born on Sept. 4, 1851, in Vienna, Austria. 

ICA Founder/President Pete Dal Bello, who has Chiari and had successful decompression surgery in 2009, made a motion at the ICA's July 11 board meeting to make Sept. 4 International Chiari Day. The motion was seconded by Board Member Katherine Morgan and passed in a 4-0 vote.

Chiari malformation is named after Dr. Hans Chiari, an Austrian pathologist, who classified the malformations into Types I to III in 1891. He was born on Sept. 4, 1851, in Vienna, Austria. Dr. Chiari died on May 6, 1916, in Strasbourg, France.

The International Chiari Association (ICA) is proud to be friends with the Canadian Chiari Association (CCA). Like the ICA, the CCA is also an all-volunteer nonprofit organization dedicated to helping those with Chiari and the people who care about them. 

There will be three CCA walks on Sept. 7 - in Ottawa, Whitby and Thunder Bay. The walks are also part of the International Chiari Walk.

The International Chiari Association (ICA) is pleased to announce that former Los Angeles Dodgers Owner Peter O'Malley has donated an autographed photo for the silent auction at the 3rd Annual Chiari Awareness Celebration. 

O'Malley was the owner (1979-1998) and president (1970-1998) of the Dodgers.

The International Chiari Association (ICA) is pleased to announce that it has reached its goal of 5,000 "Likes" on its Facebook page. 

"I want to thank everyone, especially Teresa Taft, for helping us reach this goal," said ICA Founder/President Pete Dal Bello. "The ICA's goal was to have 5,000 'Likes' by October 1 since September is Chiari Awareness Month. 

"My mother told me this week that we might get to 5,000 before the Chiari Awareness Celebration (September 6 in Santa Barbara, California) and she was right."

The International Chiari Association (ICA) is pleased to announce that three authors, each in the Santa Barbara, California area, have donated autographed books (CLICK HERE) for the silent auction at the 3rd Annual Chiari Awareness Celebration.

The books are the following: "The Grace of Crows" by Tracy Shawn (two copies), "The Last Fernandez" by Sandra Perez Gluschankoff and "Broken Butterfly" by Karin Finell.
