Mother's Day was extra special for Cyndi Vanek, a long-time Chiari sufferer.

Her son Eddie, 22, was just promoted to the rank of corporal in the Marines, while 19-year-old daughter Brittany, a student at Purdue University West Lafayette, was elected ambassador for the College of Education at the university.

Both Eddie and Brittany, along with husband Ed, have given Cyndi lots of support on her Chiari journey.

It has been a 20-year journey for Cyndi, 44, who lives in Schererville, Indiana.

Bruce Campbell has played in the NFL since 2010 when he was drafted in the fourth round, though when the 6-foot-6, 320-pound offensive lineman takes off his helmet you will see his scar from decompression surgery.

Yes, Campbell has Chiari.

He has played in 19 games in his career with the Oakland Raiders and the Carolina Panthers. Campbell has never started a game, but he made the most news before he was drafted.
